Southington is located near the center of the state. It was originally a farming community, and is still known for its apple production.
In the early 1900’s it became a small manufacturing center, producing cement, machine tools, and hardware items. As with other Connecticut towns in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s it attracted immigrants seeking employment.
