The collection of information pertaining to the Cofrancesco Family history, that was to eventually appear in this web site, was started in the mid 1990’s, however it was not until after the year 2000 that work began in earnest. While many people contributed to this effort, the following people, listed in alphabetical order, were most active in conducting research and documenting their results.
Francis J. Cofrancesco, Jr. (Buck)
Buck Cofrancesco was born in Wilmington (Delaware, USA) in 1939: a second generation Cofrancesco, his grandfather Angelo having emigrated from Massa di Faicchio (Benevento, Italy) in 1902 to live in Delaware. Buck currently lives in Lake Livingston (Texas, USA). He is in the construction industry. He visited the home of his ancestors several years ago, and has actively researched his family history. He has become highly proficient in deciphering the microfilm records available through the Family History Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has been a valuable contributor to our knowledge base.

Ivan Cofrancesco (Ivo)
Ivan Cofrancesco was born in Egypt in 1945. His father Tullio had been born in Massa di Faicchio (Benevento, Italy) and moved to Egypt when he was nine years old. The family returned to Italy for about a year in 1957 pending their immigration to Australia. While Ivan has lived near Sidney Australia for most of his life he never forgot his Italian heritage. Several years ago he made an extended visit to Italy where he met some of his relatives and gathered valuable ancestral data. He is also a student of ancient Italian history, and was instrumental in identifying sources of vital and other old records needed to trace our ancestors. Our web site contains a fascinating document that Ivan wrote entitled From Massa di Faicchio to Egypt to Australia.

John Alling Cofrancesco
John A. Cofrancesco was born in New Haven (Connecticut, USA) in 1935. He is a second generation Cofrancesco, his grandfather Nicola having emigrated from Massa, Italy in 1890 to live in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. John first visited Italy as a student in 1957 and, years later after gaining some knowledge of his Italian heritage, again in 1998 with his wife. He continued to seek information about his ancestry, and in the process met Anna Di Leone, Ivan Cofrancesco, and Pacifico Cofrancesco, via the Internet. In 2005 John and his wife traveled to Massa to meet Anna and other relatives. John has worked closely with the other contributors to this web site and the Newsletters, primarily by reviewing and writing articles, furnishing photographs, and assisting in the translation of some of the material into English. He currently lives in Olney (Maryland, USA) with his wife.

Pacifico Cofrancesco
Pacifico Cofrancesco was born in Pavia (Italy) in 1960, of Giuseppe and Filomena Guarnieri, and he lives in Garlasco (Pavia, Italy) since his birth. His father Giuseppe was born in Massa di Faicchio (Benevento, Italy) and immigrated to the North of Italy in 1956, with his family. Pacifico first met Ivo and John, via the Internet, at the end of the 1990's, and helped Ivo connecting to his relatives in Italy. He joined again the research team at the end of 2006, and thanks to his knowledge of Latin he could translate some ancients documents found by Anna Di Leone in the Italian State Archives. He created this web site at the beginning of the 2007 and he is maintaining and developing it almost on a daily basis. In the years 2007 and 2008, in three different trips to the South of Italy, he gathered and studied about 1500 documents he himself found in the archives of S. Lorenzello and Cerreto Sannita, concerning the most ancients records of the Cofrancescos and wrote several papers about Cofrancesco Family history. For the first time he published a full Cofrancesco Family tree on the Internet on February 2007.

Anna Di Leone
Anna Di Leone was born in Benevento and has lived in Massa di Faicchio (Benevento, Italy) all of her life. She has long been interested in her ancestry. When she learned that the Cofrancescos were tracing their family history she graciously offered her help. Anna has several Cofrancesco relatives and acestors, and in particular a great, great, grandmother was Gelsomina Cofrancesco. Anna has been able to provide copies of vital and other old records from State archives and church repositories that would have been difficult for others to obtain. In addition, Michele Di Leone has contributed several articles of historical interest to the web site, and Anna has made several of her recipes available.
