Cofrancesco 2009 Reunion
Another Success
Photographs by Augustine Cofrancesco, John Cofrancesco, and William Gillotti
Started in 2006, the third Cofrancesco Family Reunion held at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven Connecticut, USA was another success. Patty Cofrancesco hosted the reunion, with the help of Lou Cofrancesco, Maria Tonelli, Cookie Ragazino, Frank Cofrancesco, and Hugo Cofrancesco.
The 2009 reunion drew extended family members from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. About 150 people attended. The oldest attendee, Matilda Cofrancesco Sullo, was 92 and the youngest was Gianna Aiello, 9 months. Held in the Carousel pavilion, the Cofrancescos enjoyed music by a DJ and a bountiful catered buffet featuring many Italian entrees as well as New England seafood. ( Lighthouse Point Park)

John Cofrancesco, who started researching the family history some 15 years ago, showed the video Prologue, – Growing Up Italian, from Pride & Passion - The Italians in America, Pride & Passion followed by a brief review of the origin of the Cofrancescos in San Lorenzello, Italy and the eventual immigration of 175 Cofrancescos to this country between 1881 and 1926. Much of this material came from this web site, cofrancesco.net developed by Pacifico Cofrancesco with input from several major contributors. John concluded with a short video on his family’s visit to his ancestral home in 2005. ( Visit to Massa)

Patty has reserved the pavilion for next year’s reunion, which will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010. We would like to focus on the oral tradition as a way for people to tell stories about their relatives in Italy and in New Haven. Watch this web site and our Newsletters for details.
Ciao,
John Cofrancesco
